Kaweah works as an application software specialist for the U.S. Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).
Kaw has developed computer software for the National Park Service, the Department of Defense, the Department of the Interior, Apple, NASA, Sun Microsystems, Motorola, eBay, and Yahoo. His work has included secure messaging, embedded systems, multi-layer mapping, 3D graphics, databases, user interfaces, web applications, and native apps on MS Windows and Macintosh.
He has a BS in mathematics from the University of South Carolina and an MS in engineering from San Jose State University. He presented his thesis on distributed systems at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
He has also worked as a physics lab assistant, an environmental health technician (Yosemite National Park), a digital electronics technician (Naval Postgraduate School), a systems administrator (U.S. Geological Survey), a math and science teacher, a security guard in Israel, and an experimental physics intern at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab).
Volunteering
Kaweah serves as a docent and trustee at Tor House in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. In the past, he volunteered at Wildlife Rescue (now the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA) and the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. He has also coached youth baseball, though not terribly well.
