- 1971: California Aqueduct completed.
- May 15, 1973: Mehran’s family moves into the Sink.
- May 6, 1974: Armen’s violin broken by a bully.
- May 7, 1974: Armen visits Hidden Valley.
- July 3, 1974: The dragon escapes and drives Sam and Huck away from home.
- July 10, 1974: Mrs. Dorah takes in Sam & Huck.
- March 4, 1975: The Cootie Incident.
- June 17, 1975: Sam & Huck’s River Trip.
- June 3, 1976: Sam discovers Hidden Valley.
- June 9, 1976: Sam meets Peter.

- Jan 23, 1979: Armen meets Sam at a pick-up football game.

- Aug 17, 1983: Armen sees the wanted poster at Grand Canal Ranger Station … Armen is body-tackled by Sam. Sam takes him into a cave for the night.
- Aug 18, 1983: An extraordinarily hot day. Sam leaves Armen, but Armen follows. Sam finds a group of rangers at the Rifle Creek Corral. He eavesdrops, and finds out they’ve got a tip on Cynthia’s whereabouts. Sam rushes off, catches Armen on his tail. Sam makes a distress call across the mountainside to Cynthia, hears the rangers approaching. A great thunderstorm begins to build. Fires ignite at several locations … Armen shoots a ranger … Cynthia shows the boys a way out, and vanishes into the conflagration. Sam sees there’s going to be even more company now, so he insists that they get out while they can. Armen stalls, so Sam convinces him that Cindy is gone, and argues that they can come back when they wouldn’t be suspected. They can’t be seen here or even leaving the area. The boys flee over a saddle and down into the Little Golden Valley, where they run into Walker’s camp, and stay the night under his watch.
- August 19, 1983: The boys follow the old Coso Trail, crossing the Western Divide to get to Mountain Home, where they make a call for help. A pickup drives up to the rendezvous point. It’s Sue. She drives Sam home, and gives him an alibi. She offers to drive Armen back to LA, but he says there’s nothing there for him to return to, so she drives him to the coast. There’s a bungalow there where she says he’s welcome to stay while he gets back on his feet.
